Left this one is the Dyna forum too but don't you think everyone will run for cover, when they fire the main torp launcher. That has got to be a scary feeling to see that big ball of plasma go by the window.
I can see it all now the captain going fire and the gunner going sir do we have to fir that one can't I fire one of the other cannons?

Kinda the same difference no?

Nah, You react differently when something flies over head then if you watch it roll by from underneath like on a bridge

Nah, You react differently when something flies over head then if you watch it roll by from underneath like on a bridge remember that the next time a great white or any shark passes under you, the next time your in a boat...or prehaps a bear if your climbing a tree Its all the same, regardless on how you look at it. If you are trained to it or aclamated to something, then you will be fine.

The Shark one proves the point If the shark is swimming below your boat you know you are safe in the boat, that hopiful is a steel hull one. Now if that shark is swimming above you he is between you and the boat, meaning you now have a problem and will duck as he goes by. By the way incase you did not know most bears can climb trees, it actually is not a safe thing to do around them. Not only can they climb it, and they will if you pissed them off enough, but they also can knock smaller ones down you might have thought you were safe in.

Whilst Humans might freak, Romulans might be totally non-plussed because they don't have the same instinctual reactions to such external stimuli?

Not only can they climb it, and they will if you pissed them off enough, but they also can knock smaller ones down you might have thought you were safe in. Doesn't matter regardless. If you are on a weapon or below it...its all the same, people will not freak if they are exposed enough to something. I mean look at the space-shuttle guys vs people behind the wheel of a car. Cars are statistically more likely to get you injured or killed in some way, but the astronaughts have their nerves really tested, while again statistically they would be fine. Again it all falls down to exposure. I mean seriously, do you think they would not train their warriors to know their technology? What to expect from it? It would become common place to them, and thus they would be fine as a whole in general...but Like Dr. McCoy's fear/hatred of Transporters for a human example, I am sure there would be a small number of Romulans who had their reservations, but being Romulans, would not dare voice it. BTW: Knew that about the bear...but that was not the point I was trying to make. In anycase, never take for granted the the facts of usage and exposure to everyday technologies or exposures to stimulii on an everyday basis. Familarity of anything leads to understanding and respect towards them/it...rather than unwarrented fear due towards ignorance of said things.
