Here's my personal revision of ENT's Enterprise: the CC-01. Still a WIP though. I will eventually export this model to Starfleet Command 2/OP, hence the lower polycount than something Wicked could make. I use Milkshape 1.7.4., and am still working.
FYI, "CC-01" means Space Cruiser, Model C, Hull 01. A bit better of a designation than an ambigous NX.
This vessel is the product of Earth Starfleet, the joint program being co-run by the Earth Aerospace Defence Force and the United Earth Space Probe Agency. This sub-branch was made as a special "task force" that could run both military and scientific duties at once, to save both costs but to allow starships in deep space a fair chance against the unknown.
Description of the ship and model:
The model itself shows the dual, dome-covered deflectors, intended to keep the fragile equipment safe against stray particulates unlike TOS, where the deflector "rings" are visible but much more powerful and effective. Sensor spikes flank the deflectors, and other sensors can extend from the rim of the saucer. The aft bulge in the saucer is where the engineering set and it's warp core would be (Fusion, M/AM, take-your-pick.)
The two domes are x-ray laser turrets, as the bridge on Earth vessels are buried in the forward half of the main hull. 16 defensive projectile cannons are mounted around the upper and lower bulges of the saucer. Although acting much like old naval cannons, their projectiles are more or less programmed explosives that can detonate incoming ordinances at a safe distance. They can be modified to launch chaff canisters or sensor drones. Once extended from the sides of the saucer, the swiveling missile racks can fire up to 12 missiles of various types (normal explosives and nukes of various sizes and abilities.)
The warp engines, with their covered bussard intakes to prevent accidental impact from non-hydrogenous matter, can fold inward on their thin but study pylons close to the hull when not in use, allowing routine maintenance in the field. The impulse engines and thrusters (latter not built) are "ball/socket" mounted, able to provide vectored thrust by swiveling. The main impulse engines are assisted by a set of subspace driver coils, while the thrusters are simply Newtonian in nature. The shuttle hangars are (going to be) on the bottom of the catamaran hulls, which use both "viper chutes" and Orbiter-style doors for normal operation. These doors also hold special probe launchers, as they are much larger than their later Federation Starfleet counterparts.
Here's some older sketches to show where I want to eventually go with this thing. Any conceptual help with how to fold in the nacelles would be helpful. They're complete bitches to work out. I laso have a few concept patches just for fun.
