This is quite possibly the freakiest coincidence of this hour at least. I just came on to the boards now to PM you to see if you had plans for doing some more TMP Romulans (similar to the KA/SFC stock ships) like the Vengeance Hawk. As usual Atolm you're thinking 10 steps ahead of the rest of us. These look so cool but I must admit - I can't tell which is which. I recognise the names Centurion and Legion from back in the days of KA but it's been so long since I played it. Are these meant to resemble the KA/SFC versions? If so the bottom one looks kinda similar to the SFC Battlehawk, except the wings are much straighter than the original.

Glad you like them mate...I have a few more done too like the Fasa Gallant-wing... as for the SFC names for the Centurion and Legion, I dunno...I just know them from KA...but in any case...glad you like them

Hi again Atolm, I found a KA site that's still got pictures and info on the ships, the Centurion was originally the Snipe frigate in SFC, the Legion was originally the Battlehawk destroyer, the only SFC romulan they didn't get from SFC was the Praex, that seems to be original to KA, quite nice looking too. I look forward to seeing any more you post in future.

Incredible design, and somehow I feel a bit honored. If you're wondering why, you should check out my e-mail address sometime. Or I could always post it here if anyone asks.

Would you mind remaking Atra's N'Neikha in your style too? I like the design in itself, but I'd love to see get "Atolmed." The only thing I'd change is the hollow spot in the head. It looks as if it is going to fall off like that! www.geocities.com/atrahasis1/rombb.html

Golden_Centurion@hotmail.com I made the e-mail years ago during my gothic chat days. ...LOL Cool Hey s33k100, you got that KA link??? Mariner, I don't think I will redesign that ship...as right now I am doing TMP ships...But I may tackle something for TNG that it would fit better....also I will have some more TMP concepts out soon....possibly something that may interest you

dynamic.gamespy.com/~klingonacademy/forum/view.php?&pg=currentnewsHere ya go Atolm, the section I was talking about is called ship info, it's got small pics and stats & background on all the main races, including the Sha'Kurians (ever thought of giving them a go with your unique stylings? hint, hint, nudge, nudge *say-no-more* LOL). BTW The N'Neikha is TMP, it's the D2 replacement for the RBB, Atra tried to do a cross-over design between the D'Deridex and the TMP FASA stylings, it's only about 500m long - much smaller than a D'Deridex and it still has a rather massive central hull section, the idea being the Romulans haven't yet got their new singularity engine tech down to the size where it can fit in one of those small hulls on the D'Deridex. I never liked the TNG Roms hull-layout at all, the whole idea is so incredibly wasteful and makes a huge but stupidly fragile ship with space inside it to fit a couple of Enterprises.

Now as for the TNG warbirds being Fragile and wasteful...that is not a correct assesment of ther design philosophy...first off the TNG warbird is actually a very strong structure as it is very sphere-like in it's shape...Now I know you know that a sphere is probably the strongest type of structure that someone can make...so the warbird has propbably a very tough hull...Next is the size...now Romulans are a warrior race that is very imperialistic...for such races a large ship would be advantageous in that it could hold large amounts of resources that would be needed in seiging, and occupying a system...I have always vied the Warbird not just as a Romulan version of a Galaxy(in their multi-mission aspect/capibilities) but as a Space control Ship...acting as an Arm of the Star Empire...Also the ship's empty spaces would tremendously add to the Cloaking device's effectiveness and the ship would be a much harder target to hit if you cannot tell if you would actually hit the ship or not even hile you are firing blind...the cavernous space here added to the ships smaller profiles...And don't forget that a large ship is very intimidating(nobody really "F's" around with the Roms...and the Feds see them as a Huge threat that is Close to home) As for Taste in the ship's astectics...I cannot help you there...you either like it or not...like the Galaxy class...people love it or hate it...lol BTW Thanks for the link

Yes I'm aware of the properties of a sphere, but the D'Deridex is not exactly a sphere is it? Far from it, it's made up of 2 relatively flat hulls linked only by the engines, the 'tail' for lack of a better word and the very thin neck sections that hold the 'head'. I understand the psychological implications of having a larger ship without actually having to build a large ship - mass wise the D'Deridex probably isn't that impressive for a 1.3km long starship, but I also see the possibility of enemies attacking vulnerable areas of the ship like the neck - much like the Constitution class and the K'T'inga. As for the aesthetics of the design, as you say it's personal preference. Glad to be of help with the link... So, any more pics?

if you ever messed with the model of the warbird you'll notice how strong the shape is...because it is using spherical properties....as for 1.3 kilometers(which is not accurate...as the ship is supposed to be larger about 1400 meters...goddamn trek and their scaling inconsistances...lol)is still way larger than 90% or so starships in the Alpha/Beta quadrants...and most fall in the size catergory of around 400 meters or less. add to the fact that ship looks like a big green bird... As for pics I got more...just need to post them...so soon but not yet...sorry...but keep a look out
