Unfortunately I lost all the work I did on the chrysaor before. Good news is, I've restarted it, and it looks 10x better.

You might try adding some motion blur to the noise pattern on the base texture. That would give it more of a sheet metal look. As is they look more like stone.

I'm not really a fan of the brushed metal look. But I'm playin' with some Galvanized Metal texture ideas. I do use a marblized texture as a breakup pattern - maybe I will leave that behind in the future.

Fair enough. The galvanized might be a better way to go. Maybe even just some gradients applied to help imitate global illumination would make it appear more metallic. Good looking models, though.

I used to bake GI into some of my earlier models, but I got really lazy. I might end up doing it, now that I try to use one texture, shouldn't take as much click work. I've also heard of people who light a model proper in 3D and then bake those as illum maps for things like spot lights and the like. But again, been too lazy. as I said, that might change.

I've baked light maps. I think it works so much better than photoshopping them. I'm just trying baking GI and AO (I even baked reflections on one model). The whole baking textures thing is still pretty experimental for me. No doubt though, as I get better, it will be the better technique to use.
